This song is about the looming shadow that is the SS Richard Montgomery, my next door neighbour. It's basically a ship wreak full of explosives, that if moved would pretty much blow everything to smithereens. It's also about the Island of Sheppey, where I live, and the song references many of the oddities that I love about the Island.
lyrics
Its not the end of the world
But you can, see it from here
Concrete gnomes, and mobile homes
All fall into the beer
I watch container ships defy the laws of gravity
I think of car park kisses past
Etched into my memory
And the people of the town
Went and called it blue
And who are me and you too, possibly argue
The three tiny crosses you see
Is old SS Montgomery
Hull full of TNT
She's gunna put us out of our misery
Blow us all to smithereens
And on the flip side of this coin
It's all Ice-cream and bra straps
London south boys, race around the block in laps
Everything is cheap
Mr B's is King
Inflatable Killer Whales, hang from the ceiling
And the people of the town
Went and called it blue
And who are me and you too, possibly argue
The three tiny crosses you see
Is old SS Montgomery
Hull full of TNT
She's gunna put us out of our misery
Blow us all to smithereens
Its not the end of the world
Its not the end of the world
Its not the end of the world
But you can see it from here
